100th PCPPP Post!

By using a calculator, a half a dozen pencils or so, and a computer that I later found out was just an unplugged microwave, I’ve figured out that this is our 100th post! I know in a lot of blogging circles 100 isn’t a lot. Or actually very few. But considering we can’t even keep up with our blazing pace of one post a week sometimes, a 100 is a fucking lot of posts in our book.

So the obvious next question was what should we do for this landmark post in PCPPP lore? How do we honor and commemorate this historic event? What do we say or write about to give this post the specialness it deserves?
I had no idea so I decided to take a nap to let my brain gears cool down from all this thinking stuff. Pat you have any ideas?

Pat:  Really? One Hundred? Wow. I don’t think I’ve ever done a hundred anything. That’s cool! Guess my old man was wrong about my inability to persevere, yeah?

Umm...I don’t know. Wasn’t there a game we played in college called “Century Club”. That has a hundred in it. Should we play that to celebrate?

Christian: I’m not a hundred percent sure what “Century Club” is but there’s no way I’m having sex with you on an airplane. To be honest I was thinking of something a little more low key than sex. Like splitting a Fresca or something.

Pat:  Hey, if we’re talking Fresca, then I want a whole one! That stuff is refreshing!

No...I think the Century Club has to do with shots and...time. Like, you have to drink a hundred of something (ounces? sips? bottles?) in a limited time.

I don’t think it matters if it’s on a plane or on the ground, but I’m with you. All due respect, but I’ve never really thought of you as a sexual partner. Just the blog. That’s enough for me.

Christian: Agreed and agreed. Just the blog.

But to be honest, drinking a 100 of something, especially alcohol,  in a certain amount of time doesn’t really sound that celebratory. It seems more like a normal day-to-day activity.

How about instead we say 100 things that no one knows about us. That seems to be the bloggy thing to do. Actually I don’t want to hear 100 of yours. How about 3?

Pat: OK. Here goes:

1.  I showered with the Portland Trailblazers. Yep. Doesn’t everybody?
2.  I flew to Japan with the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. Security unit, you know.
3.  I hung out one night at a gay disco with the First Son of Romania. And, no, he didn’t try to kiss me. He was very respectful of my limits.

Christian: What the hell? I was going to say something like I don’t like butter on my pancakes or that I have two favorite colors but you’ve showered with a professional sports team? Flown internationally with professional cheerleaders? Hung out with Romanian royalty? Explain yours please.

Pat:  No. It takes too long. And it reveals more of the mystery of my persona than I am comfortable with. Sorry. Not even my wife knows the details of these stories. She only knows they happened, and is content to leave it at that.

Remember, buddy...sometimes a little knowledge can be dangerous.

What are your three secrets?

Christian: Well I already told you. I don’t put butter on my pancakes, just maple syrup, and I have two favorite colors, which I too will not name in attempt to remain more mysterious. Two can play that game, Pat! My third one was going to be that one of my favorite words is “escalated”. As in “the situation quickly escalated”.

This telling three secrets thing was a disaster. Who even came up with this idea?

OK, here’s another idea. And I think this is the one. How about we give something away to our dearest cherished readers to say thank you for all their support?

I know what you’re thinking Pat: But Christian, despite coming up with yet another awesome and fantastic idea seemingly effortlessly, while always maintaining an impressive fashion sense with your own personal style, what could we possibly give away that would be worthy of the thanks our dearest cherished readers deserve?

First off, thank you, and second off, don’t worry I’ve figured that out too. Our dearest cherished readers deserve something that symbolizes beauty and grace, something that will be admired for generations to come. Of course I’m talking about the personally hand-crafted pencil drawing I did of a Quadracorn for our post Pegacorn vs. Pegicorn.

Breathtaking.

I’m getting a little teary eyed just looking at the majestic beauty of it.

So what do you say Pat? Should we give away the original to one lucky reader to celebrate 100 years posts of PCPPP?

Pat:  Oh. You really DID draw that? I thought it was done by one of your kids...the younger one, actually. I mean, it’s good. You did a good job with the four horns. And the mullet. The teeth are a little unnerving, as they’re very...human.

Umm...yeah. Let’s do it! Especially because if we don’t, then we might have to consider opening up some sort of PC-PPP museum or archive where people could see it, and that would be embarrassing a lot of work.

Christian:  Yes a lot of work indeed. Then it is settled. In celebration for our 100th post we will give away the coveted Portrait of Quadracorn, pencil on notepad paper.

If you are interested in receiving this spectacular specimen of what the humankind imagination can create just leave a comment. If you would prefer not to win it or feel indifferent about it, also leave a comment, and then do some serious soul searching. If you don’t understand what’s going on or stumbled upon this post by mistake you should also leave a comment.

We’ll select one person at random and dub them thy winner of thy art.

The winner will be announced in the next week or so or whenever we get around to it. Because you guys, our dearest cherished readers, deserve it.

  1. Congratulations on your 100th post! I'm not sure I believe Pat's stories since they're very vague, happened mostly outside the country and cannot be verified. Plus, they all happened to me instead. Honest!

I hope I win that drawing. If I do win it, I promise to wear it as a mask for the entire day.

    1. After much pleading from me, Pat finally explained each story to me and swore that they are all true. So yes, he's totally lying about them.

P.S. He's actually not lying. They are true.

  2. In the picture with the cheerleaders, which one is Pat? Sorry I'm not good with faces. Speaking of which, I'll pass on the Pegacorn or Pegicorn. I got confused about "A corn" or "I corn." Anyway, I have to go now and do some serious soul searching and maybe get an eye exam...

  3. Congrats on your 100th post! I was going to do a special post for my 100th post, but I didn't know I'd already reached 100 posts. I was very disappointed. As for the picture: if I win it, I'll take it on a tour through Boston on my lunch break or something. I don't know.

    1. Maybe take it on the freedom trail and take a picture of it with everything historical that you see.

  4. 100 posts *shakes head slowly in disbelief*. It's a giant landmark, like I don't know...Mount Rushmore, or those colossal sculptures of odd things like massive, house-sized penguins or mosquitoes or whatever, you find in little backwoods towns. Yup. That's what it is.

    1. I love those colossal sculptures in backwoods towns. Some town needs to do one of a quadracorn and then just sit back and watch their tourism economy skyrocket.

  5. Kudos on your one hundredth post! You both have persistence or fortitude, or maybe it's just inertia. Either way I was hoping to win 100 ounces of some premium liquor, not malt liquor either, like rum or tequila, the plain kind unconfusing kind, not cotton candy or cherry mint, which sounds like toothpaste. But I would search my soul for a drawing. I promise not to sell it on Ebay.

    1. Thanks! Don't worry we'll be keeping our eyes on e-bay after we give it away to make sure no one is making exorbitant amounts of money off of this.

  6. I feel my unborn child will be missing something in her life if I don't have that picture to adorn her nursery to haunt her dreams.

  7. Holy flying crap-monkeys! Are you really giving away that amazing Quadracorn drawing?! YOU'RE NUTS, but I want it really REALLY bad! It would look great on my wall of weirdness, right between ALF wearing squirrel underwear and Ms. Petunia Darnell McSweetiepants (my winged kitten that I still need to fashion a horn for so that she can become a Pegakitty)!

Congrats on the 100th post. I think as a personal sort of celebration, you should both go streaking through the streets of Portland. But let me know if you do that so that I can be there to witness the epic event. I promise not to turn on the flash on my camera so that there's no shiny bits where they shouldn't be. Or red eye. Nobody likes pictures of naked men running with red eyes. Except for maybe demons, but as we all know - demons live in Poland, not Portland...

    1. Running through the streets of Portland naked with demon eyes was our second choice for how to celebrate 100 posts. We went with the quadracorn giveaway instead. Maybe for the 200th post.

  8. I don't use butter either!!!!! This is why I deserve that epic photo of the pegicorn. Well that, and I'm stalking you. :)

    1. Wow. And for all my life I thought I was the only that didn't like butter on their pancakes. Not normal some would say. Some would call me a freak. My priest said I was an ungodly abomination. Now I know I'm not alone. Thank you.

  9. Congratulations on the 100th post! I don't like butter on my pancakes either. I don't like butter on most things, really. Paula Deen terrifies me (and I'm not even black!).

Consider us both entered, since, well, we like to win things. Have fun figuring out whether we're one entry or two. We like to make things difficult for others.

    1. Whaaaat? Yet another person that doesn't like butter on their pancakes? Maybe I'm not a freak. I knew my priest was wrong.

And we got you down for two entries. If one of you should win it though you're going to have to do another random drawing on your own to figure out which of the two of you get it.

    1. In ancient lore the quadracorn spread happiness everywhere. Like a severely out of control forest fire.

  11. I'm so excited this is your 100th post! But technically, since you both contribute, it's really more like 200 posts. Two guys/one blog. Catchy...and business savvy. Think how successful the concept was for those two sweet girls who shared one cup...

    1. Thank you.. Hey wait a sec... If you're trying to smooth talk your way into us giving away two quadracorn portraits it ain't going to work. It took me over 3 months to draw that one.

  12. What a jubilant centennial celebration! I have the perfect place on my wall for a quadracorn, but then again, who doesn't?

    1. Exactly!!! I just hope the winner doesn't experience too much stress trying to figure out where to hang it. Should it go over the fireplace? Over the master bedroom's bed? Tough decisions.

  13. Christian, don't you have sex with Pat unless he buys you dinner first! You don't want to seem cheap!

  14. Congrats on your 100th post! I think you need a real reward of some sort - perhaps a trophy with 100 sharp points facing another 100 sharp points. Just make sure you don't keep it over a waterbed or in the kids' room - especially if you move to earthquake country.

As for your generous gift, I think you should just give it to Jeneral Insanity since he obviously really REALLY wants it. Everyone else is just being nice in saying they like it. It's kind of cute, so if I win it I'll probably use it for my son' birthday party for game of Pin the Tail on the Pegacorn or Pegicorn.

    1. While I agree that we should got a real reward I do disagree that is should be some kind of death trap trophy.

Playing pin the tail on a portrait of a pegacorn wold be fine. But this is a portrait of a Quadracorn!!! It should not be subjected to silliness!

  15. Congrats you guys! Very good post, worthy of the milestone of 100. I love the drawing of the Quadracorn. It makes me happy, that smiling face. If I win it, I will put it up somewhere in my house where I am sure to see it every morning before I head down to Camp, so that it can set me up to be in a good mood while I help prepare three meals a day for our campers and answer every question asked by our staff, such as "How many carrots do you want me to peel?" and "Is this ground turkey done frying yet?" and all the questions posed by our campers such as "Can we ring the bell yet?" and "What is this?" (The answer to that last question is usually "herbed cottage cheese" or "tamale pie.")

    1. Thanks! Wait, tamale pie!?!?!?!! YUMMY! I want to ring that bell.

    2. Oh man, if we were still having Lost casserole get-togethers, I'd be making so many yummy things. Making food for large groups has made me an expert on casserole-like dishes. I think this summer I totally perfected our tamale pie. The key is not too much base (which is polenta and milk and water and salt) and more topping (ground meat, onions, peppers, garlic, etc, plus tomato puree and cumin and chili powder) and lots of cheese on top. Come on down, bring your family, I'll make it for you. :)

    3. We just took the kids camping for the first time for just one night as a tester. They both loved it. We're going again this weekend for two nights to really see how it goes. Maybe next year they'll be ready for a good road trip and we can head down there. Both Amy and I have talked about wanting to go down there and visit.

    4. Woo hoo! Tamale pie for everyone!

  16. I want it...if I get it I will frame it and put it on the spot where my beloved laptop used to be until it got kidnapped.

it is majestic and graceful, I think it would bring me enormous amount of luck!

    congrats on 100th posts!!!
Also seriously what are your favourite colours???

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I hadn't thought about the luck producing aspects of the Quadracorn but I think you're right it would bring a lot of luck.

As for the favorite colors you guessed one correctly on the guest post we did, and I won't say what the other one is but it is the color that an orange is. I mean it's orange. I mean my other favorite color is orange. I also really like the flavor of oranges too. The fruit, not the color. Despite what other people are saying I really can't taste colors.
